Presser for 2017 Global Diplomats' Chinese Cultural Night held in Beijing

A press conference for the 3rd Global Diplomats' Chinese Cultural Night was held on Aug. 16 at the Embassy of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana to China, which marks preparations have been officially launched. Guyanese Ambassador, also Rotating Chairman of the Committee of the event, Beyney Karran, and General Secretary of the Committee, Xu Yunzu, along with ambassadors, representatives from enterprises attended the presser.

Ambassador Karran believes exposure to foreign cultures is one of the best ways to promote tolerance, understanding and friendship among peoples and countries. Global Diplomats’ Chinese Cultural Night 2017 aims to improve international communication, build bridges of cooperation and stimulate communication and integration between China and the global community.

He said this is especially important since China's Belt & Road Initiative is gaining increasing world attention and has attracted positive responses from the international community. China has had a unique and advanced civilization for more than 5000 years and is now synonymous with modern development. The B&R Initiative is serving the purpose of bringing countries closer together economically, as well as forging political and cultural links.

General Secretary Xu Yunzu, also general manager of LOOKWE, the initiator and one of the organizers of Global Diplomats' Chinese Cultural Night, touted the event as a meaningful platform for exchanging of cultures and presenting both the traditional side and developing status of China's economy, society and culture to the outside world through the eyes of diplomats.

He introduced major activities to be held for this year’s event. Themed, "Discovering China", highlights of the event will include a Qipao show by spouses of diplomats to insert new elements of traditional Chinese costume; a photo exhibition of "China in the Eyes of Diplomats", to present what they see and how they feel about various aspects of the country.

Other activities include a forum on urban tourism investment and development, a vote for Diplomats' favorite tourist city, exhibitions on excellent brands and China's intangible culture heritages performance.

He also disclosed this year's event will fall on Nov. 11. The Commonwealth Society of Beijing(CSB), Beijing Diplomats' Club, Organization of Global Diplomatic Attache and embassies to China will co-host the event.

Strategic cooperation agreements were also signed at the press conference between LOOKWE and several sponsors, including D&S Media Group and Aigo Integrity Alliance, etc.
