The People-to-People Bond: "One Belt and One Road" Looking China Youth Film Project has been published by Beijing Normal University Publishing Group, which covers the stories of  "Looking China Youth Film Project" in recent years with rich images and texts, reflecting the "Looking China" program and cultural communication among young people. Readers can capture an overview of the short films categorized by countries that the directors come from, poster and synopsis of each film, the interview with each participant, teachers' words, etc. The book is published in Chinese and English.

Inside the book

"Looking China Youth Film Project" has successfully run 6 rounds of video programs since 2011. As of 2016, a total of 302 young foreigners from 35 countries have participated. They had visited 21 regions of China and produced 301 "Looking China" short documentaries. In 2017, another 100 new documentaries are expected to be made between April and July in 12 regions in China, featuring the theme, "Craftsmanship, Inheritance, and Innovation."

The project invites young foreign filmmakers to produce a 10-minute documentary from their own unique perspectives, along with the assistance of Chinese partners. The program emphasizes the personal experiences of young foreign participants about Chinese culture and urges them to observe and experience the life in China with their cameras and to tell Chinese stories from their own standpoints.

The "People-to-People Bond" Initiative, as well as cultural communication between countries call for concrete, mutually acceptable and efficient approaches. As Huang Huilin, professor emeritus of Beijing Normal University, Founder of "Looking China Project" said, " Countries do need to share a spirit of openness and reciprocity, mutual learning and benefits, carrying out cultural exchanges, gaining public support, and seeking international cooperation, in order to have shared advantages and achieve joint development."
