Editor's Note: The world-renowned children’s illustrator Korky Paul visited Beijing in May and granted an exclusive video interview with CCTV.com Panview.
The children's illustrator Korky Paul, who earned worldwide recognition for his drawings in the 'Winnie the Witch' book series, had visited China earlier this month to meet his fans in the country.
He spoke with CCTV.com Panview to talk more about his own childhood. He was born and raised on a farm in South Africa and holds fond memories of playing out in the wilderness, which made him more creative, since he had the freedom to explore.
He believes today's generation of parents may have become too over-protective when raising their children. His childhood experiences serve as a reminder that it’s alright to take some risks.
His free spirit had led him to a successful career as an illustrator. He has developed a lifelong passion for art and is pleased that so many children from all over the world appreciate 'Winnie the Witch.'
His favorite book from the series is 'Winnie in Space' and hopes his drawings inspire children to have a greater love for science.
You can learn more about the adventurous life of Korky Paul and his future plans by watching the video interview on CCTV.com Panview.
