BEIJING, May 19 (CCTV.com) -- Chinese veteran Dai Zijin died on Thursday at the age of 102 in Beijing.

Dai Zijin was a Chinese aviator, he survived the World War II as one of the few native Chinese aviators who was in the Flying Tigers.

Hailed from a decent background, Dai spent his early life in Shanghai. Since the Anti-Japanese War escalated, he decided to enlist. Then he studied as a cadet in the southwest of China since 1938. Had been trained in the U.S. and India successively by the American instructors, from 1942 to 1943, Dai became a qualified aviator.

In 1944, Dai and the rest of the crew was tasked with bombing campaign against the Zhengzhou Yellow River Bridge. They managed to do that at minimum altitude. By the end of the WWII, Dai was transferred to pilot transport planes.
