Editor's note: As the first Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation being held here in Beijing from May 14 to 15, CCTV.com Panview team goes into universities and talks to some young scholars from countries en route the B&R to find out what they are thinking of this initiative.

In today's episode of Insights on Belt & Road, the CCTV.com Panview team features an interview with Syed Muhammad Nishat ul Hassan Kazmi, a Yenching scholar at Peking University from Lahore, Pakistan.

He discusses how the New Silk Road initiative is expected to "positively impact more than one-half the world's population by constructing major infrastructure projects that can connect the world."

Pakistan will be a major beneficiary of the B&R, since Beijing has declared the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as the "flagship" project that would open an energy and manufacturing hub in Pakistan's rural region near its border with China.

The Pakistani scholar believes CPEC can play a crucial role to help his nation overcome serious energy shortages, which would aid the industrialization of the region.

Kazmi also highlighted how Pakistan can capture more FDI (foreign direct investments) and croos-border trade deals.
