In today's episode of Insights on Belt & Road, the CCTV.com Panview team features an interview with Harriet Kariuki, Yenching scholar at Peking University, from Kenya. She discusses how the New Silk Road initiative is expected to bring "much needed infrastructure" for all of Africa.
Kenya plays a pivotal role in Africa's economic development, which has witnessed its domestic economy enjoy remarkable growth while boosting trade and investment in the region.
The Kenyan scholar disclosed that concrete plans are underway for construction of a sea port on its coast that is expected to create over 30,000 jobs for the local community. The shipping ports offers opportunities for Kenya's land-locked neighboring nations cheaper and more convenient logistics to transport exports abroad.
Kariuki also highlighted how Kenya hopes China can help her nation accomplish its dream for industrialization while attracting more FDI (foreign direct investments).
