A Chinese naval fleet is on a three-day goodwill visit to the Philippines. Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday visited the naval fleet and boarded the missile destroyer Changchun. It's the navy's first time in Davao, the country's third largest city, also the hometown of President Duterte. On Sunday, there was a grand welcoming ceremony.

A series of activities are also planned, including an open day on board the vessels, deck reception and cultural and sports competitions.

Both sides believe that the visit will strengthen the relationship between their navies, and contribute to the development of the traditional China-Philippines friendship and ties.
