As of Saturday, 31 province-level regions had released their local GDP data for the first quarter. 22 of them reported GDP growth rate that was higher than the national figure of 6.9%.
The top spots - coastal provinces of Guangdong, Jiangsu, Shandong and Zhejiang exceeded 1 trillion yuan, thanks to booming exports.
The bottom three are Tibet Autonomous Region, Qinghai Province and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, all with GDP below 60 billion yuan.
In terms of GDP growth rate, the southwest seemed to grow fastest, with Tibet, Chongqing and Guizhou ranking at the top.
Liaoning in northeast was the weakest performer last year, when its GDP growth fell to below 3 percent... and Shanxi, a major coal-producing province, has been hit by slumping coal prices.
