Major bike-sharing companies, including Ofo and Mobike, have agreed to share user information with Beijing authorities. That decision was made following rising reports on the vandalism and haphazard parking of bicycles.
The city's government hopes this new plan can help to improve traffic conditions and safety. People with records of vandalism will face limits in rental service, while users with good credit records can enjoy preferential services, such as a waive of security deposits.
Other major cities including Shanghai have also adopted similar moves. The credit reports will also become part of a nationwide information sharing system.
