China's special representative for Korean Peninsula Affairs, Wu Dawei, met his Japanese counterpart Kenji Kanasugi in Tokyo on Wednesday. The meeting comes amid rising tensions, with speculation that the DPRK might carry out a nuclear test or launch a long-range missile.

During the meeting, Wu said diplomatic measures have to be taken and China looks forward to peaceful negotiations in order to solve the region's problem as soon as possible.
