Today marks one year since Chinese President Xi Jinping made a series of remarks on cyberspace security and informatization. Speaking at a symposium in Beijing last year, President Xi stressed that the development of China's Internet should meet the expectations and demands of the Chinese people.
He also stressed what he termed the "correct outlook on cybersecurity", and called for the establishment of a system to protect information infrastructure in areas such as finance, energy, telecommunications and transportation. President Xi also urged authorities to establish unified and effective mechanisms to report risks and share information, and stressed the importance of core technology and talents, which he said were key to China's Internet development.
