China will launch its first cargo spacecraft between the 20th and 24th of April. The Tianzhou-1 and its carrier rocket, the Changzheng-7, were vertically transported to the final launching pad on Monday, in a process that took around two and half hours.
Final preparations before the launch include a functional check and joint tests of the spacecraft and its carrier. The Tianzhou-1 will dock with the orbiting Tiangong-2 space lab and conduct in-orbit refuelling. Several other scientific experiments will also be carried out during its time in space.
