The Dai ethnic groups in southwest China have been celebrating their new year. The occasion is widely known as the water-splashing festival, or the Songkran Festival in some Southeast Asian countries.
It's rare for Dai people to dress in festive costumes, and dance together….But they are now doing so to celebrate the coming of the new year on the Dai calendar….While it requires expertise to dance in a graceful way, it calls for nothing but instinct echoing to festivity.
