For decades, China has sent its national mascot to other nations in a campaign known as "panda diplomacy."

These furry animals carry the goodwill of the country to four continents and some have even given birth in their new environments.

Currently, 23 zoos in 13 countries have Ginat Pandas. Among the 60 pandas currently living in zoos and reserves outside the Chinese mainland, half are in Asia, with 11 in Europe.

The United States actually has 13 pandas. The Giant Panda was for years bestowed as a national gift, but more recently international zoos have taken them on loan for a specific period of time.
