2017 Looking China International Youth Film Project opening ceremony was held in Beijing Normal University on April 10, which is co-organized by the Academy for International Communication of Chinese Culture (AICCC), Beijing Normal University and Huilin Foundation.
It aims to showcase the contrasting simplicity and glamour, the antiquity and fashion of China through the unique perspectives of young foreign film makers.
Vice President of Beijing Normal University, Zhou Zuoyu, Dean of the Academy for International Communication of Chinese Culture, founder of "Looking China" project Huang Huilin, Embassies' representatives, 25 young film makers from 9 countries had attended the ceremony.
In 2017, film makers are expected to produce 10-minute short films with the assistance of Chinese volunteers from Shenzhen University, Guangxi Normal University, Xiamen University, Henan University and other organizations. The theme of this year's "Looking China" project is "craftsman, inheritance, innovation."
Apart from the short videos made by art students, the organizers also invited professional film makers from Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Burma to make movies. Additionally, three former Golden Lenses Awards winners are coming back to China to film with deeper understanding.
The organizers also invited five experienced VR movie makers from five countries including Romania, Russia and Australia to go to Qinghai, a province in northwest China to create VR movies.
Since every place has its own cultural character and customs, eight scholars including Joël Bellassen, Roger T.AMES, Feng Jicai and Xiao Fang are employed as cultural consultants for this year's "Looking China" project.

"Looking China" project is set to enhance the international influence and attractiveness of Chinese culture and to strengthen the cross-cultural communication, exchanges and cooperation among the younger generations in China and abroad.
