China-Myanmar relations have been marked by plenty of development projects. China is Myanmar's largest trading partner and biggest source of foreign funding, accounting for 50 percent of the country's total foreign investment.
One major Chinese investment in Myanmar is the China-Myanmar crude oil pipeline, the fourth largest energy import line in the world. It has a capacity of over 10 million tonnes of crude oil per year. There's also been a project for natural gas line with a capacity of 12 billion cubic meters per year. China spent a combined 2.5 billion US dollars on those two projects.
Another big Chinese investment is for the 2-billion-dollar China-Myanmar Railway. The planned line would link southwestern China to Myanmar's Yangon city. And there's the Myitsone Dam, which at the moment is suspended. Chinese investment on this project would take up an estimated 3.6 billion dollars.
