BEIJING, April 10 (Xinhua) -- China strongly condemned terrorist attacks that targeted two churches in Egypt on Sunday, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Monday.

According to local media, the twin bomb attacks in the Egyptian cities of Tanta and Alexandria killed at least 44 people and injured more than 120 others. The Islamic State (IS) group has already claimed responsibility for the attacks.

Chinese leaders have sent messages of condolences to Egypt, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said at a daily news briefing.

China opposes all forms of terrorism, she said.

"China supports Egypt's effort in maintaining national security and stability and is willing to enhance anti-terrorism cooperation with the international community," the spokesperson said.
