Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang's in on his visit to the Philippines. He has now met with President Rodrigo Duterte in Davao City, with both sides reaffirming a peaceful settlement of disagreements in the South China Sea.
Duterte's spokesperson says bilateral ties are strong, especially in trade and commerce. Economic and trade cooperation is also high on Wang's agenda in the Philippines, and both sides are expected to sign development agreements.
Wang has also overseen the launch of the China-ASEAN Year of Tourism, saying that China and ASEAN countries are friendly neighbors, and that cordial relations will bring job opportunities and investment across the region.
