With this year's sessions of both the CPPCC and the NPC having now concluded, let's take a quick look at the main goals set for 2017 during the two sessions.
China has set its GDP growth target at around 6.5 percent for 2017, compared with a target range of 6.5-7 percent last year.
The government has also called for the creation of 11 million new jobs for urban residents, an increase from last year’s target of 10 million.
China also aims to cut the energy consumption per unit of GDP by at least 3.4%. Meanwhile, while the deficit-to-GDP ratio stays unchanged from last year, at about 3%, the government fiscal deficit is set at 2.38 trillion yuan, representing a year-on-year increase of 200 billion yuan.
