President Xi Jinping has called for the construction of what he calls a "beautiful Xinjiang" and the raising of living standards in the region.  The president was attending the meeting of the delegation from the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Friday.

President Xi called for more ecological preservation and anti-desertification efforts in the region. He also asked delegates to engage in more substantive work that raise the standards of living.

President Xi emphasized the importance of poverty alleviation through targeted measures in Southern Xinjiang. He also called on the delegates to regard maintaining stability as a political responsibility.
