The NPC Law Committee has announced the achievements of China's legislative accomplishments in 2016.

Last year, the National People's Congress and its Standing Committee passed 10 laws, including the Charity Law and Public Cultural Service Guarantee Law. In addition, a range of 24 other laws were revised, including the Wild Animal Conservation Law and the Non-state Education Promotion Law.

As for legislation covering national security, a Cybersecurity Law was passed, which set up the basic national security system together with the National Security Law, Counter-terrorism Law and as well as the Counter-espionage Law.

One prominent achievement realized by the NPC is that the body interpreted Article 104 of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region's Basic Law.

The deliberation of General Principles of the Civil Law of the People's Republic of China will be put at the top of the priority list during the 5th Plenary Session of the 12th National People's Congress.
