The most anticipated cultural event of the year has arrived in Beijing. The exhibition, "A history of the World in 100 Objects" opened on Wednesday at The National Museum of China.

The show is organized in partnership with London's British Museum. Based on the popular historical book of the same name, the exhibit highlights the objects that were carefully selected from over 8 million items in the British Museum's collection. Contrary to what the title suggests - "A History of the World in 100 Objects" - there are actually over 200 relics on display.

The exhibit is divided into eight categories, such as the civilizations of ancient Egypt, ancient India and ancient Babylon. Nine pieces of Chinese items have been chosen to represent the Chinese civilization section. The "Flood tablet" and the "Lachish Reliefs" unearthed in Iraq, are the most expensive in support value. The exhibit will run for two months, and the cost of admission is 50 RMB.
