While the Spring Festival is synonymous with large quantities of food, it seems that some animals have also overindulged a little during the holiday season. A series of photographs featuring some unusually large tigers at a park in northeast China has trended wildly on China's internet.
The chubby tigers, from the Siberian Tiger Park in Heilongjiang province, have proved a big draw, with tourists flocking to the park to see them in person after pictures of the cats went viral.
While some netizens voiced their concern over the health of the tigers, park rangers said they intentionally fattened up the animals over the winter to help them cope with the freezing temperatures in China's northeast.
The keepers added the tigers would naturally lose weight when the weather gets warmer.
