China's Ministry of Public Security has announced that immigration inspection officials will collect and retain fingerprints of foreigners aged between 14 and 70 when they enter China.

The new regulations will be implemented tomorrow at southern China's Shenzhen airport, and will be gradually rolled out at other entry points around the country. Officials stressed the importance of strengthening immigration controls and pointed out that many countries already gather biological data of people entering and leaving the country.
