The Chinese government has presented an evening gala in Chicago to extend its new year wishes to Chinese living in the US.

Sunday's event was organized by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council. It featured dances and songs that represent various Chinese ethnic cultures. Illinois governor Bruce Rauner sent his greetings to the Chinese attendees.
The audience of 1,500 included local government officials and members of Congress.
