GENEVA, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- Referring to the executive order by U.S. President Donald Trump banning entry of citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights warned Monday that "discrimination on nationality alone is forbidden under human rights law."
"The U.S. ban is also mean-spirited and wastes resources needed for proper counter-terrorism," his office quoted Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein as stating via twitter.
With regards to international organizations, United Nations agencies jointly appealed to Washington to withdraw Trump's anti-refugee decision, reminding that "the needs of refugees and migrants worldwide have never been greater, and the U.S. resettlement program is one of the most important in the world."
