Q1. The US, China and South Korea were all, at various times, attacked by Japanese military forces during World War Two. But the Japanese government only appears to be showing respect to the victims at Pearl Harbor, while also visiting the controversial Yasukuni war shrine shortly afterwards. Japan knows how China and South Korea view such visits to the shrine, so why did Japanese Defence Minister Inada choose to go now? Is this an act of provocation against China and South Korea?
Q2. What is Abe trying to achieve through this round of memorial diplomacy?
