The Obama administration plans to announce a series of retaliatory measures against Russia over alleged political hacks. The new measures could include economic sanctions, leaking information to embarrass Russian officials and restrictions on Russian diplomats in the US.

The US intelligence community agreed Moscow was behind hacks into Democratic Party institutions, and sought to help Republican Donald Trump defeat Hillary Clinton. Trump has rejected claims of Russian interference, and the Kremlin has vowed to retaliate in the event of new economic sanctions.
