China's foreign ministry has sent condolences to Turkey and Germany following incidents in both countries. Russia's ambassador to Turkey, Andrei Karlov, was shot dead while speaking at an art gallery in Ankara by an off-duty Turkish police officer.
While in Germany, a truck ploughed into a crowded Christmas market in Berlin, killing at least 12 people in what authorities believe could be a terrorist attack. China said it is deeply shocked by both incidents. In a statement concerning the Ankara shooting, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said China condemns all forms of terrorism.
"China strongly opposes any forms of terrorism. China will support counter-terrorism operations in Russia and Turkey, and join the international community in strengthening the fight against terrorism," said Hua Chunying, spokesperson of Chinese foreign ministry.
