The Chinese government is planning to promote public-private partnerships in the agricultural industry. The effort by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Agriculture Ministry is the latest move to open up and modernise China's vast farming sector.
The government agencies said that China would support the injection of private capital into such sectors as crop and livestock protection, and infrastructure development. The aim would be to promote supply-side structural reforms, along with "sustainable and healthy" development of agriculture. China has used the PPP financing model to boost other sectors.
