In Hainan, the China Go Forest Marathon series rolled on into its second day. The 21-kilometer race, or a half marathon would be staged at the Xinglong National Forest Park, and attracted runners from all over the country from a whole host of different abilities who wanted to test  their endurance in the beautiful surroundings.

All the competitors who enter the park notice the two sides to the area. The Fenghuang Mountain and Tropical Garden portion. Most of the forest has been been protected by the local government and runners taking part in the race cover 85 percent of all surface area, racing at altitudes of 150 meters and overcoming a series of steep hills.

The overnight drizzle makes for some slippery conditions but doesn't dampen the spirits of those taking part. Yang Xinxiang picks up the win in the men's division with local runner Liu Yanping finishing first on the women's side.

"I really like outdoor sports and I have gone through many mountains and forests. I started to run marathons this year and I am interested in running though more forests in Hainan," said Liu Yanping, 21 km Womens Champion.

"This is our second event in the Go forest Series, which has just been established. Our aim is to incorporate runners who can run around the beautiful forests in China. We will try to improve next year," said Wang Mei, Meilong Sports president.
