South Korean National Assembly has released President Park Geun-hye's rebuttal, which was submitted to the Constitutional Court on Friday. Through the statement, the president's legal representatives denied charges against her confidante Choi Soon-sil for alleged influence-peddling. They asked those making the accusations to come up with concrete proof against Park's longtime friend.
The representatives also stressed that the impeachment motion passed by parliament earlier this month lacked legal grounds. Park herself has denied involvement in any suspected wrongdoing by Choi, adding that no serious crime was committed to warrant her dismissal from office.
