Bashar al-Assad says 'history is being made' with the defeat of insurgents of Aleppo in a video message posted on the Syrian presidency's Telegram channel.

"This, in itself, is history being drawn right now. It is bigger than the word 'congratulations'. Everyone is congratulating each other and all social media networks are circulating the word 'congratulations'. I didn't want to repeat this word. I wanted to confirm that what is happening today is the writing of history, being written by every Syrian citizen. Its writing didn't start today. It started roughly six years ago when the crisis and the war began in Syria," said Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad.
