Leaders of Germany, France and Australia have reaffirmed their commitment to the One-China policy, saying Beijing is the sole representative of China. This comes after US President-elect Donald Trump held an unprecedented phone conversation with Taiwan leader Tsai Ing-wen and challenged the One-China policy in a TV interview.
" We appreciate those countries who reaffirmed their commitment to the One-China policy. Here I would like to reiterate that there is only one China and Taiwan is a part of China. The People's Republic of China is the sole legitimate government representing China. The One-China Principle is the premise and foundation of any cooperative relationship between China and other countries," said Geng Shuang, spokesperson of Chinese Foreign Ministry.
