The U.N. General Assembly has passed by acclamation a new resolution honoring retiring Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
Representatives from member states thanked Ban for his service and dedication to the United Nations.
In response, Ban reviewed the challenges the U.N. faced under his leadership, and expressed appreciation for the support of member countries.
On Wednesday, the U.N. Security Council will also hold a ceremony honoring Ban, whose last day in office is December 31.
