China and the U.S. have agreed they are cooperating well to make the internet a safer place, while they are slowly cracking down on cyber crimes and other related matters.

China’s State Councilor and Minister of Public Security, Guo Shengkun; the U.S. Attorney General, Loretta Lynch; and the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security, Jeh Johnson, were present at a China-U.S. ministerial dialogue on cyber crimes in Washington D.C. on Wednesday. They said their frequent and high-level communication served as a crucial factor in the progress they were making in the area.

U.S. officials also called for continuing and developing the current dialogue mechanism to jointly fighting cyber crimes, including cyber terrorism and email fraud. The two sides agreed to convene their next dialogue in China next year.
