China's Foreign Ministry on Friday said it hopes the South Korean situation will return to normal as soon as possible. Meanwhile, it also voiced strong opposition to the deployment of the THAAD anti-missile system in South Korea.
"The impeachment is part of South Korea's internal affairs. It has been our consistent principle not to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries. As a close neighbor, we hope South Korea can restore stability as soon as possible," said Lu Kang, spokesman of Chinese Foreign Ministry.
"Meanwhile, we hope to have good developments with South Korea. However, we hold a clear and consistent stance over the THAAD issue. We firmly oppose the deployment of theTHAAD system on the Korean Peninsula. This affects China's security."
