Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov says Syria's army has halted operations in the southeast of Aleppo to allow trapped civilians to be evacuated.
Lavrov announced the ceasefire on Thursday, and on Friday the Russian military said it had helped more than 8,000 residents leave in the past 24 hours.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said shelling continued in parts of the city throughout Thursday night and into the Friday morning. It said at least 18 civilians were killed.
