The Shenzhen Hong Kong stock trading link has officially opened to South Korean investors. What stocks are their top picks?
South Korean investors now can expand their China portfolios to cover Shenzhen.
"So far institutional investors in South Korea have invested quite a huge amount of money in Shenzhen. Individual investors can also buy stocks through us."said Lee Yongcheol, director of Won Dae Securities.
The choice for individual investors in South Korea remains limited as those investors cannot trade startup stocks in Shenzhen just yet. But those relatively young and high tech stocks on the Shenzhen main board are quite sought after. Retail stocks are also highly favored.
"The valuation of Shenzhen stocks is relatively high, which means high risks for individual investors. But we keep an eye on high-growth companies. "said Park Sejin, director Won Dae Secturities.
There has been over 60 billion Korean won, or more than 50 million US dollars, invested so far in Shenzhen. The highest investment return reported is 8 percent.
