The former longtime boss of the organization was awaiting a decision on his ban from football. Sepp Blatter was given a six-year suspension from the sport, over an undisclosed payment of 2-million dollars to former European soccer head Michel Platini.

The Swiss was appealing that decision, and took his case to the highest tribunal in Sport -- the Court of Arbitration for Sport -- who ruled on the case.

"The appeal of Mr. Blatter has been dismissed. Accordingly, the decision rendered by the FIFA's Appeals Committee in February this year remains in force, and Mr. Blatter remains banned from taking part in any football-related activity at national and international levels for six years, as from 8th October 2015, and must pay still a fine of 50,000 Swiss francs," said Mathieu Reed, CAS general secretary.

"An appeal before the Swiss federal tribunal may be filed against that award within 30 days from the receipt of the decision of CAS."

Swiss guilty of conflict of interest over $2 million payment

The Swiss says he will accept the decision. FIFA suspended Blatter and former France international Platini for eight years last December, but the bans were reduced to six years by its appeals committee.

In May, the tribunal dopped Platini's ban to four years after he appealed. Blatter's legal problems are far from over, as the 80-year old who looks like the grandpa from the TV show "The Munsters," faces a separate FIFA ethics investigation into suspected bribery linked to multi-million U-S dollar bonuses in top executives' contracts.

Swiss prosecutors also opened criminal proceedings against Blatter for the Platini payment, and a sale of World Cup television rights. Blatter denies any wrongdoing.
