The Russian Defense Ministry says Syrian rebels deliberately shelled a Russian military field hospital in Aleppo, killing two female medics and injuring another.
The ministry says Syrian rebels fired at the mobile field hospital that had been treating civilians.
Lieutenant General Vladimir Savchenko, the head of the Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria, says the attack began at around 11 AM local time and lasted for about 90 minutes. Savchenko says there have been other rebel attacks on infrastructure.
He said,"During a peaceful initiative in a Syrian school two and a half weeks ago, there was also shelling. A mortar bomb entered a classroom and children from the first to the fifth grades were killed."
"This is what the situation is like. The rebels don't accept anything. They don't want to make any concessions. They don't take any steps unilaterally. They only strike back. This is their answer to our goodwill toward civilians."
