Saturday is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, a day celebrated annually around the world since 1992. According to the China Disabled Person's Federation, there were about 85 million people with disabilities in China by 2010, with approximately 29 percent having a physical disability, 24 percent having hearing disabilities, and 15 percent having visual impairments.
Among these numbers, 70 percent of disabilities are moderate or light. By 2015, over 75 million people got rehabilitation services, and there were over 7,000 rehabilitation institutions distributed in over 900 municipal districts and over 2,000 counties in China.
