To another event featuring shirtless competitors, as the 6th International Bodybuilding and Fitness Bikini Contest revved up in Sanya on Saturday. This is the sixth straight year this competition has been held in China's island province of Hainan.

The showcase is being staged at the Beauty Crown Culture Center in Sanya, and lasts the whole weekend. This year's event has attracted more than 500 contestants from all over the world including China, Russia, the US, Great Britain, and Spain. The competitors are divided into different groups according to their weights, heights, and ages in the preliminaries. On the opening day, 36 events were held, with the winners earning the opportunity to show off their toned physique in Sunday night's final.

There they will challenge the top 10 finalists from last year's showcase, who were awarded automatic berths. Titles in the bodybuilding, physique, and fitness bikini categories are up for grabs today, not to mention a share of the 40,000 US dollar purse. Russia's Navarrskaya Darya, who is competing in Sanya for the first time, won the fitness bikini preliminary, and is very excited and confident about the final.

"This is the first time that I've competed at this tournament in China and I've enjoyed it very much. This is a very high-level competition and people have been quite friendly to me. Tomorrow it will be more competitve in the final against the best contestants from China and around the world. I hope I can win again," said Navarrskaya Darya.
