South Korea has formed an independent group which will investigate the political scandal surrounding President Park Geun-hye early next month.
South Korea's parliament approved the group's formation on November 17th. It's the 12th time such a body has been formed since the system of independently investigating political figures was established in 1999.
The group is widely believed to be the only body qualified to investigate the scandal, since current prosecutors are thought to be influenced by political forces. The group consists of a record 105 prosecutors and will look into 14 charges against Park's confidante and aids. It will have 20 days preparation time and 70 days to finish the investigation.
