It's been almost a year since China issued and implemented its new second-child policy. And the world's fastest aging country has already added many new faces in the past year. China is expected to have over 17.5 million newborns in 2016, a 5.7% increase over last year's 16.6 million.

In 2015, China's total fertility rate was slightly over 1. But experts say the number was surprisingly low, compared to the standard replacement rate of 2.1. Under the new policy, the fertility rate is expected to rise to 1.8 in 2020. That means on average a woman will give birth to 2 babies in her life.

However, more than 60% of Chinese mothers say they don't want a second child.
