We spin over to Formula One, where the championship chase comes down to two drivers, and one race. Nico Rosberg leads the standings by 12 points, but his Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton will be on pole at today's season finale in Abu Dhabi. If the Briton can win, and the German somehow finishes out of the top three, he will improbably claim a third straight world title.

Rosberg is determined not to let that happen, but Hamilton has beaten him the last three times out. The German led the standings by 33 points after last month's Japanese Grand Prix, but his English rival has been on a tear since then. Rosberg's fastest lap in qualifying would be one minute, 39.058 seconds.

But Hamilton soon tops that mark, clocking in at one minute, 38.755 seconds, to grab his fourth consecutive pole.

Hamilton's odds to three-peat remain long however, and could come down to mechanical failure, or a crash involving his teammate.

Rosberg is well aware of the dangers, and simply needs to make the podium to take the overall world title, if the Brit finishes first at the Yas Marina Circuit.

But Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo will be looking to grab his own glory after posting the third best qualifying time here. The Aussie and his teammate, Dutch teenager Max Verstappen, are also the only drivers besides the Mercedes duo to win races this season.

That means the UAE is also the last chance for Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen to finish atop the podium this year.

And the same holds true for his compadre, four-time former world champ Sebastian Vettel. But all their hopes rest on unseen drama pushing aside Rosberg and Hamilton.
