Japan's Defense Ministry is going to set up a panel to consider the possible deployment of the US anti-ballistic missile shield, THAAD. The decision is to be made by summer next year.

Defense Minister Tomomi Inada will reportedly visit Guam next month to inspect the technology at a US base. Japanese media say THAAD is likely to be deployed before 2018.
