For more on President Xi's visit to Latin America, we are joined in studio now by Yang Xiyu, a senior fellow from the China Institute of International Studies.
Q1: Reviewing President Xi's week-long trip to Latin America, we can tell that China is seeking to engage more with the region. All the while, the US president-elect, Donald Trump is hinting that he wants to distance himself from his neightbors in the south. So what is China essentially trying to achieve here, in terms of economic trade?
Q2: Washington's apparent draw to protectionism and its tense relations with countries in Latin America have created a vacuum of sorts in the region. With such a dynamic, what obstacles does China face in trying to carry out its trade plans there?
Q3:If the US does take a more isolationist path, as its largest trading partner, should China be alarmed? How do you see the prospects for trade between the pair?
