China has spoken highly of developing relations with the Philippines, following Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte's recent visit to Beijing. Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Geng Shuang says China looks forward to boosting cooperation efforts with the Philippines.
Geng said, "Since President Duterte's successful visit to China, relations between China and the Philippines have turned positive. Cooperation between the two sides have entered a brand new phase of development."
"China and the Philippines are geographically close and economically complementary. Therefore, there is great potential for bilateral economic and investment cooperation."
"China supports President Duterte's efforts of leading the Philippine people to develop their country and their economy, and is willing to cooperate with the Philippines in a number of areas, including: trade, production capacity and infrastructure."
