Full coverage: Xi Visits Ecuador, Peru and Chile, Attends APEC Summit

Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Santiago and started his visit to Chile on Tuesday. He was warmly welcomed by his Chilean counterpart Michelle Bachelet at Constitution Square after the arrival. He also observed the honor guard.

The two presidents held a meeting and oversaw the signing of 12 agreements in areas including agriculture, foreign relations, astronomy and culture. They agreed to start negotiations on updating the free trade agreement between the two countries, and also to lift ties to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership.
